Ohio Art's Nanoblocks

You don't have to be an engineer to create with nanoblock®! With these micro-sized building blocks, 3D buildings are constructed like never before! Watch in amazement as buildings are erected to even the tiniest detail. Easiest constructed w tweezers, these sets are not for young children. The smallest piece is 4mm x 4mm x 5mm and the manufactturer says Ages 8 and up with parental help.

The Japanese have always been masters of miniaturisation, but who knew they were so good at shrinking plastic building bricks? Nanoblocks are cool micro versions of Diablocks, the Japanese equivalent of everyone’s favourite studded Lego® building blocks But why so small? Well, smaller blocks mean smaller projects, greater detail and more realism. Plus you can fit finished models in the palm of your hand.

Now you can nano-size famous structures of the world...the Eiffel Tower, Taj mahal, Kinkaku-Ji, a Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan and many others. Enjoy a trip around the world with your own micro-sized Kikkaku-ji and other unique structures from the nanoblock® Sites to See Series. Get ready to travel the world without leaving your desk. And not travel as normal folks, but travel as a super gigantic um . . . giant. Introducing: NanoBlock Micro Building Blocks! And boy are they ever nano-riffic; the smallest piece measures a mere 4mm x 4mm x 5mm (that's small enough to fit into any facial orifice, trust us). Created by geniuses in Japan, NanoBlock Micro Building Blocks are so much fun. Read on to learn more!

NanoBlock Micro Building Blocks come in three types (each more difficult than the last): Eiffel Tower (easiest), Taj Mahal (mediumest), and Neuschwanstein Castle (hardest). And sure you can build them following the easy to follow instructions, but the biggest (smallest?) test of your creativity is what you can build off the map, so to speak. Imagine the gleaming mini-starship you could build with all the tiny pieces from the Taj Mahal set. Or the super mini battleship from the Eiffel Tower set. You get the idea. NanoBlock Micro Building Blocks take anything you can imagine and shrink it down into the palm of your hand.

BONUS: Each kit includes extra pieces for even more building fun.

Lego's
Heroica

NEW Lego fun for the entire family ... Lego board games which bring strategy, family gaming and customization all into a series of brilliant board games. Lego has come up with a series of Heroica board games which provide a twist on the usual strategy board game we see in this range. The games provide the loved and well known Lego theme as well as the fantasy and strategy of games like Catan, Dungeons and Dragons as well as many more. Before you even get going by playing your game you first have to build it from the hundreds of standard Lego blocks provided in the set. You can then construct the standard board, separate boards and a series of sub-boards which can all go together to make one massive game as well as many different combinations.

If you like Lego you are going to love the flexibility that these games provide and you will love the fact that these games are standard Lego bricks for the most part so if you can customize your very own Heroica. The layout of the board can be changed along with the characters and the overall game play.

No game is the same as before.

Lego's new HEROICA™ is a new series of exciting adventure games that can be played separately or combined into an even greater game experience! Every HEROICA game is a unique adventure to build and explore, with new heroes, monsters and treasure. It's time to explore the world of HEROICA! Currently there are 4 Heroica games which can be combined into a bigger game. There is also a nifty storage box to keep the parts organized.

Caverns of Nathuz ( just released )

Deep inside the Caverns of Nathuz, the Golem Lord has discovered an ancient artifact and is using it to create his own army of monsters. You must fight your way into the caves, but can you recover the Sceptre of Summoning? An expandable world of adventure for 2-3 players. With this set you can build 2 different missions with 3 heroes and 4 monsters. It also includes 1 buildable LEGO dice, building instruction booklet, rules booklet and mission map. Game play is about 10-15 minutes for 2-3 players.

The smaller scale of the micro-figures allows LEGO to get a lot of gaming small space. This is good if space is a issue, especially when traveling. The modular design of passageways & rooms is well done and soon you will be able to create your own adventures pretty quickly. That modfeular design allows you to build custom rooms/dungeons for the game with what LEGO calls “Plate 2×2 W 1 Knob”. You can also incorporate standard Lego parts.

The game itself is an easy roll the dice, move your man and fight. If you move next to a monster, you have to fight it. If you move over an object such as gold, potion, or a nice treasure chest, you can/should acquire it. There are 6 different heroes – each with special powers that are activated by rolling a particular symbol on the dice. The monsters, OTOH, are differientiated only by the amount of damage they can do to the players.

The base rules to the game have the players racing to reach a particular space – acquiring potions, gold (to buy weapons) & fighting monsters in order to get there. As usual, the whole “the guy who defeats the last monster just opens the way for the next guy to win” problem rears its ugly head. The battle rules where one player controls the monsters against the players is a good feature.

Claire Elizabeth Whitney's

Young cub reporter Tintin (Jamie Bell) is strolling along when he spots the model of a man o’war he simply must have. No sooner does he make his fine purchase, however, when out of nowhere come various parties trying to buy it from him, warn him that there’s great danger in owning it, and even steal it from him. With the help of his trusted dog Snowy, he manages to get it safely home, but that’s just the beginning.

Before long Tintin learns that the ship contains a clue leading to a fabulous treasure. Determined to track down the treasure (more for the story than the wealth), he is soon tangling with an extremely dangerous band of rogues, his only ally (besides loyal Snowy, of course) is a drunken sea captain (Andy Serkis). Captain Haddock at times seems more trouble than he’s worth, but Tintin quickly learns that Haddock is a part of the secret behind the treasure. And so, with nothing but pluck on their side, the trio take off in the face of guns, goons and god-awful weather to recover the lost treasure of the Haddocks.

This plot is not only perfect for a Tintin adventure, it is one. Adapted from three of the original stories ("The Crab with the Golden Claws," "The Secret of the Unicorn" and "Red Rackham’s Treasure"), it is a fabulous, madcap whirlwind of adventure.
