"Ghostbusters 3 " is Not Lost

The Ghostbusters retired ages ago, after a 1984 hit film, 1989 sequel, and two animated TV shows. But talk of another film has been rampant. Well, 'Ghostbusters 3' is finally moving forward with or without Bill Murray. Ivan Reitman and Dan Ackroyd hint that the plan is to film in Spring of 2012 no matter what happens casting-wise. Ackroyd says that the script is finished and that the plan is to hand the equipment and the franchise down to new blood. The comedian confirmed reports that the plot will revolve around a new generation of Ghostbusters and hinted at the states of his and Ramis' characters. Ray, is now blind in one eye and can't drive the cadillac. He's got a bad knee and can't carry the packs. Egon is too large to get into the harness. We need young blood and that's the promise.Aykroyd suggested the idea of replacing reluctant Bill Murray with another actor to portray Peter Venkmen. No reports yet as to the rest of the cast's involvement including retired Rick Moranis.

"Switch" Stars Anniston and Quaid

Jennifer Aniston is in talks to join Switch, a film project first reported to be a prequel of sorts to Quentin Tarantino's Jackie Brown. In truth, it's not a prequel, but rather a parallel tale that is intersected by characters who appeared in the 1997 neo-noir. She'd play a woman who's kidnapped by two ex-cons in an attempt to extort money from her seedy real estate developer husband, a role being circled by Dennis Quaid. The twist? When the husband refuses to pay, the angry wife teams with the two ex-cons to swindle all of his money. Already cast are Oscar nominee John Hawkes, Mos Def and Ty Burrell. Daniel Schechter will write and direct. Hawkes and Mos Def will be playing younger versions of the two main characters in Jackie Brown - Louis Gara and Ordell Robbie, previously incarnated by Robert De Niro and Samuel L. Jackson.

"John Carter" Sequel in the Wings

Disney's John Carter is a $200 million gamble and yet the Disney is so confident in the finished product delivered by writer-director Andrew Stanton that it's already preparing a sequel. Stanton and co-writer Michael Chabon have begun plotting a narrative for an eventual follow-up, which would draw from Edgar Rice Burroughs second novel in the series, "The Gods of Mars". The film is far from a reality; Disney will likely wait to see how Carter performs financially around the world before giving a greenlight on a second picture. John Carter opens early March nationwide.

''Zorro Reborn''

Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal has landed the lead role in Zorro Reborn, a futuristic reimagining of the title swordsman's tale. Bernal will play the beloved -- and masked -- Spanish (via California) character as a "vigilante bent on revenge," according to Variety.

"The New West" Goes to Big Screen

Benderspink is teaming up with Wizard Magazine founder Gareb Shamus to option the screen rights to Black Bull Media’s comic book The New West. Written by Jimmy Palmiotti and art by Phil Noto, the two-issue comic was set in a near-future Los Angeles where an electromagnetic pulse bomb has causes all technology to stop working. In this hostile environment a disgraced former LAPD detective must rescue a kidnapped mayor with only a horse and a sword.Benderspink’s Chris Bender, JC Spink and Jake Weiner will produce with Shamus. Black Bull Entertainment was the publishing imprint of Wizard Entertainment, Shamus’ empire begun in 1991 that grew to inlcude conventions, a comic and toy price guide, and a broad array of magazines that have since gone digital. Benderspink, whose credits range from comic book adaptation A History of Violence to the in-production comedy Burt Wonderstone, recently pacted with Arcana to create a line of comics ripe for film adaptation
